CaratLane was founded in 2008 by Mithun Sacheti and Srinivasa Gopalan. Initially launched as an online retailer, the company later expanded into physical retail, opening its first store in Chennai. As of July 2024, CaratLane operates as a subsidiary of Titan Jewellery and is fully owned by Titan Company Limited. By August 2024, the brand had established a strong presence with over 275 stores across 100+ cities in India. In 2011, a study conducted by Dataquest, Sapient Nitro, and JuxtConsult ranked CaratLane among the top 20 e-commerce platforms in India, recognizing it for its exceptional usability and user interface design.
